Just Released: The First MDI Provincial Summary
We are pleased to announce the release of the 2024 Middle Years Development Instrument (MDI) Provincial Summary. This is the first MDI online report summarizing data collected from participating BC school districts and independent schools across Grades 4 through 8 at the provincial level — providing key highlights from the 2023-24 school year and over time.
Over the summer months, various HELP faculty and affiliates have been featured in the media as experts on a range of topics related to child and family well-being. From radio and podcast interviews on trending topics, to opinion pieces in prominent publications, even hosting a town hall with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau – HELPers have been in the news!
In "Don't Look Away", the Representative for Children and Youth calls for a commitment to “stop tinkering at the edges of an outdated system that does not work for too many children and families” and embark instead on larger transformative changes that will ensure that our young people are safe, connected, and thriving.
Data released by Statistics Canada and initiated by a national research team led by the Offord Centre for Child Studies, sheds new light on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Canada’s youth.
The Children's Mental Health Research Quarterly from the Children's Health Policy Centre provides summaries of the best available research evidence on a variety of children’s mental health topics, with a goal of improving outcomes for children by informing policy and practice. The latest issue discusses treating opioid use disorder in young people.
