RayCam: Using Data for Planning and Action
RayCam Co-operative Centre has long been a cornerstone for local residents, children, families and seniors in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and Strathcona neighbourhoods. Raycam released a Summary Report highlighting key findings and recommendations from their Strathcona Early Childhood Needs Assessment process that included HELP data and research support. HELP Study: School Connectedness Critical for Transgender and Gender-Diverse Youth
What role does school connectedness play in the mental health of transgender and gender-diverse (T&GD) youth? A new study led by HELP researchers Maram Alkawaja, Dr. Eva Oberle, and Dr. Tonje Molyneux has been published in School Mental Health, analyzing data from more than 23,000 students in grades 6-8 across British Columbia. The findings highlight the critical importance of safe and inclusive school environments for the well-being of T&GD youth.
Introducing New Faculty: Dr. Angie Ip and Dr. Trevor Goodyear
We are thrilled to announce the addition of two distinguished faculty members, Dr. Angie Ipand Dr. Trevor Goodyear. Both bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to equity and interdisciplinary research, enhancing HELP’s mission to support the health and well-being of children through interdisciplinary research and mobilizing knowledge.

⇒ SSHRC PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT GRANT
Dr. Martin Guhn has received SSHRC funding for a new project, Advancing community partnerships to integrate monitoring system data and support decision making for the well-being of children, youth, and families.
⇒ UBC GRANTS FOR CATALYZING RESEARCH CLUSTERS
Dr. Guhn has also received funding for a new research cluster, Roots for Indigenous Partnered Research, which aims to strengthen collaborations between researchers and Indigenous communities, collectives, and organizations.
Dr. Matt Carwana's renewed cluster focuses on overdose prevention, uniting an interdisciplinary team of experts working towards their mission of ending youth overdose deaths.
